What can colleges learn from degrees awarded in the fast-shrinking journalism field?

A new report from the Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce finds that journalism degrees can offer a return on investment, even though the number of available jobs is declining. An analysis of federal education and labor data reveals that journalism and communication bachelor’s degrees offer average payoff to their graduates, but only. Still, only 15% of majors work in the field early in their careers.


 
UK School of Art and Visual Studies Digital Media Blast scheduled for Dec. 13

The University of Kentucky School of Art and Visual Studies (SA/VS) will host the Fall 2022 Digital Media Blast at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, in Worsham Cinema at the Gatton Student Center. The event is free and open to the public.


 
How studying abroad is likely to shape up in 2023 for Indian students

There is no doubt about the growing demand for studying abroad, initially attributed to the pent-up demand for two years of the pandemic but is now more due to increasing aspirations and affordability to study overseas. According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), as of 2022, over 13 lakh Indian students are studying abroad, with the most significant number (4.65 lakh) pursuing higher studies in America.


 
Indian Healthcare Professionals Seek Work Experience Abroad Study

India’s healthcare professionals are in demand from countries in the Gulf (predominantly the UAE and Saudi Arabia) as well as Europe, particularly in the UK and Ireland, because of its renowned prowess in medical education, as per a recent study published in Springer’s BMC. The study also mentioned that estimated 10,000 healthcare professionals have emigrated to seek work experiences beyond their homeland in the last five years.


 
Seven new ITE diploma courses are to be introduced in April 2023

Institute of Technical Education (ITE) graduates will have access to seven new diploma programs from 2023. Three new technical diploma courses are offered in hospitality and hotel management, beauty and wellness management, and civil and structural engineering. ITE also offers graduates four new work-study diploma programs in agriculture and aquaculture technology, customer experience management, facilities management, and security operations.


 
OceanFirst Awards Brookdale $40000 for Scholarships

The OceanFirst Foundation awarded $40,000 to the Brookdale Community College Foundation, allowing them to provide 40 $1,000 scholarships to deserving students to continue their college education in the 2022-2023 academic year. In the thirteen years of the Ocean First Scholarship Program, $3.7 million has been awarded to more than 2,500 students across OceanFirst Bank’s New Jersey footprint to help them pursue their dream of higher education.


 
Applications open for annual scholarships | Norwalk Reflector Firelands Electric Cooperative

Applications are now open for Firelands Electric Cooperative’s annual scholarship and Youth Tour programs. Students who reside in a home receiving electric power from the cooperative are eligible to apply. Firelands Electric Cooperative will award $9,750 in college scholarships to outstanding high school seniors with a minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.

Almost 1.1 million unique educational credentials exist in the U.S., according to a new tally mapping a sprawling web of certificates, badges, licenses, diplomas, and the like — as well as who offers them.


The count comes in a report released Wednesday by the nonprofit Credential Engine, which is trying to improve the available information about learning and career pathways.

University in Ohio offers scholarships for students who ditch smartphones

The Franciscan University of Steubenville launched a 2022-23 pilot of the “Unplugged Scholarship,” which awards financial assistance to students who give up using a smartphone for their undergraduate studies.
