Since then, he has supposedly received all undergraduate degrees offered by Georgia Tech, served in the military, gotten married, and served on Mad magazine's Board of Directors, among other accomplishments. Essay Prompt Breakdown

Prompt: Why do you want to study your chosen major, specifically at Georgia Tech? (max 300 words)

You can address this prompt while answering two crucial questions – "Why this Major" and "Why us?" You can consider devoting about half to each—roughly the first 100-125 words or so on why you've chosen your major, then the rest to how you want to explore that field at Georgia Tech. The prompt lays a lot of emphasis on "specifically at Georgia Tech", we highly recommend devoting your research and word count more to that.

Through this essay, the admissions committee is looking to see how well you'll fit in with their student body, so it's a good idea to mention resources specific to the school you're applying to and how they'd help you achieve your goals.

As stated on the university's website, the admissions offices state the following as the traits of a strong essay:

  • Demonstrate authenticity & self-awareness.

  • Demonstrate thoughtfulness.
