Times Higher Education Awards 2022: Shortlist Announced


With more than 70 institutions in the running for awards across 20 categories after 550 nominations, the shortlists for the 2022 Times Higher Education Awards – the “Oscars of higher education” – have been announced. The awards are expected to be presented on 17th November.


 

10 Best Countries for International Students in 2023


With the trends of global higher education in consideration, Masterstudies pens down a list of 10 best countries for international students in 2023 across different fields of study. The top 10 listed countries were: the United Kingdom, USA, Switzerland, Singapore, China, Japan, Australia, South Korea, Canada, and Germany.


 

More Chinese students favor the UK for overseas study


Overseas application of Chinese students to the UK has seen a surge of 29 percent from 2020 to the end of June this year, according to the latest data from the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service. Demand for overseas study from prospective students across China remains strong, and the future looks particularly bright for British Universities.


 

How can Africa’s vast appetite for higher education be met?


The most recent figures from the World Bank show that just under 9% of school-leavers in sub-Saharan Africa currently access tertiary education, compared with the global average of about 35 per cent. By 2050, the African youth population is projected to hit 1.1 billion: figures that entail a huge increase in demand for higher education. Concerns about higher education opportunities continue to rise.

British High Commissioner to India Alex Ellis said that the country is beating its own records when it comes to issuing visas globally. India claims its number 1 spot as a source country of students going to the UK. Priority and super priority visa services were launched as the waiting period for visas has run into months due to high demand.

New Jersey ranks Number 1 in the list of ‘Best States for Education’; followed by Massachusetts, Florida, Washington, and Colarado to round up the top five.


 

China will again welcome International Students


In his recent Twitter post, Ma Hui, China’s ambassador to Cuba, wrote, “Welcome news! International students can now return to China to resume their studies.” China readies to ease COVID-19 restrictions on foreign travelers after two and a half years.


 

Trends in College Students’ Mental Health


Post-pandemic, more than 40 percent of students have reportedly expressed anxiety about falling back academically and transitioning back into a pre-pandemic style of learning. Year after year, there seems to be a higher number of students suffering from depression, anxiety, and other behavioral disorders.
