'A forward-thinking program': You can now study to be an influencer at Arkansas Tech University

With social media and influencers dominating the world, it comes as no surprise that Arkansas Tech University in Russellville has introduced a new major focused on digital media and content creation.


The Bachelor of Arts in Digital Content Creation degree was approved in the summer and rolled out this fall at the university, department head for Communication and Journalism, Dr. David Eshelman, told USA TODAY.


"It gives students experience with filmmaking, public relations, social media, and communication ethics," the program description states. "Students will leave with the ability to coordinate and create content for social media efforts - either their own or for employers."


 

The end of affirmative action hurts community colleges

Higher education is still reeling from the Supreme Court decision in June that ended affirmative action. While affirmative action has often been discussed in the context of exclusive universities—like Harvard and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill—the Supreme Court decision that bans colleges from systematically considering race in admissions impacts the entire sector. From community colleges to public flagship universities to selective private institutions, all institutions of higher education have to navigate a new reality that threatens to exacerbate long-standing racial inequities that undermine the value of higher education.


 

Minnesota Milk ‘Invests in Future’ with 15 Scholarships

The Minnesota Milk Producers Association, the state’s most prominent dairy advocacy group, has announced that 15 outstanding individuals from the state are receiving scholarships for post-secondary education.


The association has awarded scholarships since 2006; the total this year is $15,000.


“Minnesota Milk continues to invest in the future by providing these scholarships,” Lucas Sjostrom, the association’s executive director, said. “We’re excited to see these students’ two- and four-year paths grow into fruitful careers that benefit the dairy industry.”


 

Apply for spring scholarships | Mile Markers

The College of the Florida Keys encourages future and current students to apply for scholarships for the spring 2024 semester by the deadline of Nov. 5.


Criteria for scholarships range widely to accommodate and assist various students. Scholarship descriptions and criteria can be viewed on the college’s website at http://www.cfk.edu/discover/cfk-foundation/scholarship-info/. There is no limit to the number of scholarships for which a student may apply or be awarded.


CFK’s spring semester begins Jan. 5. Students must be registered for spring classes to be eligible for spring scholarships.


 

Auxilo International Education Loan Programme for Undergraduate and Postgraduate

Auxilo International Education Loan Programme is a joint initiative of Buddy4Study and Auxilo Finserve Pvt. Ltd. to provide financial backing to aspiring students who have secured admission into higher educational institutions abroad.

UNESCO supports the Ministry of Education to launch its Crisis and Risk Management Strategy

The Minister of Education, H.E. Prof. Azmi Mahafzah, launched the Crisis and Risk Management Strategy for the Ministry of Education in Jordan (2023-2027) marking an important step towards strengthening the education sector’s response to crisis.


The Crisis and Risk Management Strategy aims to ensure that the Ministry of Education (MoE) can guarantee a safe and secure educational environment and continuity of quality education in the face of the different risks and hazards facing Jordan. The strategy focuses on addressing the risks posed to education in Jordan by identifying key system-wide strategic actions to ensure that education actors, including schools and students, can develop a localized and decentralized approach to crisis and risks management.
