Introduction to the Dean’s Desk

International students' enrollment in foreign universities for higher education has significantly increased over the years. As a result, the increased competitiveness of the college application process can come off as a daunting task, even more so for international students. Students applying overseas face a plethora of questions -- of which, where to study, which course to apply for, and how to apply are only the beginning. But, the fact that there are challenges along the way shouldn't stop you from achieving your dreams.

Having worked closely with students, we at The Headmaster thoroughly understand the challenges international students face while applying for foreign universities. However, we believe that students can easily overcome these challenges with the right resources and guidance. All these students require is a sense of direction they're heading towards.

Therefore, we've come up with a section that brings you the words of the Admission Committee themselves. We help you decipher these words of the deans of prestigious universities that provide you with an insight into the admission offices' thought processes.

Different resource guides guide you differently, which can sometimes deepen your dilemma. Finally, to help you clear up the confusion, we bring forth the words of the dean themselves that help you ascertain what the admission committees look for in their ideal candidates.

This section aims to answer the student's questions from the perspective of the Deans of prestigious universities.

To start, here's what Christopher Watson, Dean of Undergraduate Admissions, Northwestern University believes international students bring to the university campus and community and what the Admissions offices look for in international students.

"International students bring a wonderful perspective to a college campus - where they're coming from can drive an intellectual conversation, an extracurricular activity, or a social event in a direction that many U.S. students aren't used to. When we recruit and admit international students, we are looking for students from diverse backgrounds-from different parts of the world, different countries, and different continents. Just think of the conversations in the dorms late at night when you have students not only from Chicago and Texas but also from Brazil and South Africa. The different perspectives international students bring to campus make Northwestern a far more interesting place."
